Steel Fabrication 

Carbon Steel.

BLM has a fabrication area of approximately 1000m2 which is staffed by well qualified and experienced tradespeople.

BLM's engineering capabilities include the manufacture of:

• Conveyors
• Walkways and platforms
• Elevators
• Portal frames
• Chimneys
• Safety barriers
• Structural steel
• Ducting and pipework.

Some recent projects handled by this division include:

• Manufacture of a coal conveyor for the Port of Tauranga
• Reefer towers for the Sulpur Point container terminal
• Structural steelwork for Icepak coolstore in Waharoa
• Sea anchors for Coromandel mussel farms

The shop is well equipped with modern up to date equipment that includes:

• Welding machines
• Punch and shear
• Guillotine (4m x 12mm)
• Sectional and plate rolls
• Optical profile
• 50 tonne press

This equipment enables a multitude of tasks to be undertaken in house. The control of production is vital to meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.

Services such as sandblasting, galvanising and painting are available through sub contract arrangements..

Stainless Steel.

Another facet of the BLM fabrication division is its stainless steel welding capabilities.

The stainless steel fabrication area undertakes specialist welding of a range of different grades of stainless and carbon steel to stainless. Specific work handled includes tanks, ducting, and pipework in both 304 and 316 grades of stainless steel.
